Pinede graduated magna cum laude with the highest honors from Harvard University, and was awarded Harvard University’s Captain Jonathan Fay Prize. She earned her Masters in English and French literature from St. John’s College at Oxford University, an MFA in Fiction from the Whidbey Writers Workshop/Northwest Institute of Literary Arts, and a PhD from Indiana University. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Literary Newsmakers, Spoon River Poetry Review, A Lime Jewel: Stories and Poetry in Aid of Haiti, Sampsonia Way, Haiti Noir, and more.

Pinede has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and was a finalist for a national Hurston-Wright Award. She has also been a recipient of grants and fellowships from the Indiana Arts Commission, the Elizabeth George Foundation, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Ragdale, Hedgebrook, and Scholastic. She currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana.
